Builder

Structures have a profound effect on our society through their control of our movement, and our relation to each other and our surroundings. The series Builder employs raw elemental forms to explore ideas about structures and the motivations of their builders. Some build to limit movement, separate, intimidate and project power. Others build to open, welcome, facilitate passage, and inspire. As Christopher Hawthorne writes, β€œIn the simplest sense, human beings build two kinds of things in the world. We build connective things and we build protective things. We build tunnels and we build walls.”

All prints are unique and made using the chemigram process, in which manipulation of chemicals alone is responsible for creating the image. All prints are 16 x 20 inches.
