These images are made in a place off the grid – no electricity, no telephony, no radio. Night gets very dark, and the forest closes in. There are times nature feels like a threat to our existence, and that our anthropocentric era will become another of a series of failures. Light has long been a metaphor for reason and understanding but, like the light in these images, our powers seem inadequate.
