Are you doing it wrong?
Hey friend,
A line from Naval Ravikant has been sitting with me this week:
"If you aren't getting happier as you get older, you're doing it wrong."
But we're sold the opposite.
That aging is a slow subtraction: the body slows, the options narrow, the best years sit behind you. So we brace against it and try to outrun the decline.
I don't accept.
Getting older hands you something your younger self never had: the ability to tell what actually matters from what only felt like it did. You want fewer things. You chase less approval. You stop performing for rooms you don't even like being in (because you're no longer in that room to begin with).
The years will take from you, or they'll teach you. Most of it comes down to whether you're paying attention.
Getting older will happen on its own. Getting happier is the part you have a say in.
Until next time,
Peter
