    Who am I?

    Hey friend,

I've been showing up in your inbox for a few months now without ever giving a proper introduction.

And if you joined recently, you might have no idea who's actually behind these emails.

So here's my 30-second introduction followed by the reasons you maybe shouldn't listen to me (you read that right).

    Who am I?

    I'm a socially awkward ultra-introvert and a movement enthusiast.

I enjoy being outdoors when the outdoors aren't humid and full of mosquitoes.

I like deep, meaningful conversations just as much as I dislike trivial, meaningless small talk.

I could live off of steak, fresh-off-the-tree Honeycrisp apples, and black coffee - but I'm a coffee snob so Starbucks and Keurigs don't count.

I enjoy perspective-changing experiences - whether that be through mind-altering compounds…🫢 or eye-opening travels - leaning more toward travels nowadays.

But above all, I am a husband to Heather, a dad to Oakie, and a fitness coach to 25 wonderful people.

So, why shouldn't you listen to me?

    Well…

I'm not the strongest coach you could find, nor am I the fastest, or the most jacked, or the most mobile.

I've never trained a pro athlete.

I'm not famous, and I've never trained anyone famous (but I did train Lil Durk's brother…lol).

So if you were to rank coaches by resume, plenty would sit ahead of me.

But here's why you would consider listening to me:

I've been a teacher my whole working life.

One of my first jobs as a teenager was teaching 5-year-olds how to swim.

Then I became an assistant swim coach at a local country club and then the head swim coach at the same club (I loved that job).

After that, I became a high school PE teacher at the same high school I graduated from (I loved that job too).

And now I teach the subject that's taught me the most: fitness, and how to get what you want from it without handing it your entire life (and yes, I wholeheartedly love it).

I do this out of a barn-turned-gym in my backyard in Illinois - where we farm muscles, confidence, and connection while my neighbors farm corn, soybeans, and hay.

So the rooms have continually changed, but the job has always been the same: understand what somebody is capable of, then help them get there.

Everything I teach, I've been through myself. Every idea that lands in your inbox has been tested in my own training, my own challenges, and my own revelations.

So, why should you listen to me?

My answer is you shouldn't, at least not on my word alone. Take what others say about me, and what I write, then keep whatever resonates and use it in your own life. If it adds value, great - I was worth listening to. If it doesn't, well…

    Until next time,

    Peter
